Life-Changing Faith! - The book of James

Bottom Line:

A person with a real faith in Christ respond with a growing passion to follow God's truth and change the world for Christ.

Intro:

"Saving" Faith: Growing confidence and conviction that the work of Jesus Christ on the cross was a payment for your sin and that His resurrection authenticated this truth.

"Living" Faith: Trusting and obeying God in all circumstances because God is in control and promises a good result.

- The Christian is saved through faith. Eph. 2:8-9

-The Christian is to walk by faith. 2 Cor. 5:7

-The Christian pleases God by faith. Heb. 11:6

-The Christian is to follow God's individual leading by faith. Romans 14:23


An illegitimate faith...

1. Dead Faith - faith that doesn't change you. James 2:14-17

a. Dead faith doesn't save you. v14

b. Dead faith doesn't serve others. v. 15-17


An illegitimate faith...

2. Demonic "faith" - faith that doesn't submit to God's truth. James 2:18-19


A legitimate faith..

3. Dynamic Faith - Faith that bears fruit in God's kingdom. James 2:20-26

a. Abraham's example - Prioritizing God and His calling above all things. James 2:20-24

b. Rahab's example - serving God in adverse, difficult situations. James 2:25-26
